Babcock & Wilcox in Akron is seeking an IC&E Principal Engineer to lead instrumentation, controls and electrical system design for boiler and environmental projects. You will act as discipline lead on multiple projects, independently planning and coordinating engineering work, and guiding communications with customers and suppliers.

This role requires traveling to support customer meetings, HAZOPs, start-ups and factory tests, including both domestic and international travel, and leading

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field.
• Experience with AVEVA applications is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Develop instrumentation deliverables such as datasheets, location drawings, and installation details.
• Develop controls deliverables such as control narratives, functional logic diagrams, cause & effect diagrams, and control panels including bill of material.
• Use database tools to manipulate data to generate I/O, Instrument, Alarm, and Electrical Load Lists.
• Develop bid specifications for instrumentation, control systems, electrical equipment, and sublet engineering services, and evaluate vendor technical quotes for specification compliance including preparation of technical bid evaluations.
• Assist in the development of Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Travel to support customer meetings, HAZOPs, start-up activities, and factory acceptance tests, which includes both domestic and international travel.
• Design complete projects, systems, components, or processes.
• Prepare complete project drawings and documents.

An IC&E Principal Engineer is responsible for instrumentation, controls, and electrical system design for boiler and environmental projects, including new build and retrofit contracts and proposals. As a discipline lead on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects, the individual must independently plan and coordinate assigned engineering work to ensure project success. The individual will lead communications between internal and external customers, internal departments, engineering firms, and suppliers. The individual must be able to technically lead projects of varying size and complexity across B&W’s full suite of product lines.

This position is open to remote work for all candidates in the United States.

Responsibilities Include:

• Develop instrumentation deliverables such as datasheets, location drawings, and installation details.
• Develop controls deliverables such as control narratives, functional logic diagrams, cause & effect diagrams, and control panels including bill of material.
• Use database tools to manipulate data to generate I/O, Instrument, Alarm, and Electrical Load Lists.
• Develop bid specifications for instrumentation, control systems, electrical equipment, and sublet engineering services, and evaluate vendor technical quotes for specification compliance including preparation of technical bid evaluations.
• Assist in the development of Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Assume Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsibilities to develop in depth technical knowledge.
• Travel to support customer meetings, HAZOPs, start-up activities, and factory acceptance tests, which includes both domestic and international travel.
• Design complete projects, systems, components, or processes.
• Prepare complete project drawings and documents.
• Develop technical specifications and solve complex technical problems.
• Perform research and investigations.
• Assign tasks to and direct supporting engineers.
• Prepare scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
• Develop Operating Instructions within the discipline.
• Provide start-up and site support within the discipline.
• Perform technical training for internal and external customers.
• Assume discipline lead responsibility on projects of moderate size or portions of major projects.
• Independently evaluate, select, and adapt standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Lead interactions with external customers, A/Es, vendors, and sublet engineers within the area of expertise or specific assignments.
• Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments.
• Mentor less experienced engineers on routine tasks.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field.
• Experience with codes and standards such as ISA, NFPA, IEEE, NEMA, and IEC is preferred.
• Experience with AVEVA applications is a plus.
• Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Must be comfortable leading communications with internal and external clients on behalf of B&W.
