Responsibilities
  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems across all voltage levels:
    • High Voltage (HV): Switchyard equipment (breakers, disconnects, bussing, grounding systems), step‑up transformers, grid interconnection systems, protective relaying systems and coordination
    • Medium Voltage (MV): 4 kV–15 kV switchgear, feeders, distribution systems, large motors, feeders, ancillary systems, unit auxiliary transformers, motor control centers
    • Low Voltage (LV): MCCs, panelboards, lighting, control power systems, motor control circuits, HVAC, balance‑of‑plant equipment, UPS systems, battery systems, DC distribution
  • Perform inspection, testing, and maintenance of: protective relays, breakers, switchgear, transformers, station batteries, chargers, emergency power systems
  • Safely execute and support electrical switching, clearances, and isolations: develop and verify LOTO boundaries, support or execute switching orders and system restoration, verify absence of voltage and grounding for safe work conditions
  • Provide support to Instrumentation & Control systems: calibrate and troubleshoot transmitters (pressure, flow, temperature, level), maintain control valves, analyzers, CEMS equipment, assist with DCS (Siemens) T3000 Turbine Controls and PLC‑based control systems

  • Ensure compliance with NERC, OSHA arc flash, and electrical safety requirements
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions for electrical and control system failures
  • Support plant upgrades and modernization projects, including relay replacements, electrical distribution improvements, and DCS upgrades
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (journeyman electrician strongly preferred).
  • 5+ years of industrial electrical maintenance experience, preferably in power generation or heavy industry.
  • Hands‑on experience with high‑voltage (up to 500 kV) switchyard systems, medium‑voltage distribution (4 kV–15 kV), and low‑voltage power and control systems.
  • Experience with protective relays, electrical protection schemes, switchgear, transformers, motor control systems, and grid interconnection equipment.
  • Experience in combined‑cycle facilities, particularly GE 7FA units and steam cycle equipment, is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of electrical system coordination and fault protection, VFDs, motor starting methods, auxiliary systems, and industrial communication networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.).
  • Familiarity with DCS platforms (Siemens T3000), PLCs, CEMS, and environmental monitoring instrumentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting capability across LV, MV, and HV systems with safe energized system awareness and de‑energized verification practices.
  • Advanced understanding of arc flash, grounding, and electrical hazard mitigation.
  • Proficient with CMMS systems (Maximo) and standard Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills in a multi‑disciplined team environment.
