Job description

Job Title: Instrument, Control and Electrical (IC&E) Technician - DGC - Operations, LLC
Union Affiliation: International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 30, AFL-CIO
Basic Function: Safety and Environmental awareness is of paramount concern in all job functions within DGC Operations, LLC. The IC&E Technician position leads by example, facilitating and nurturing a positive and open safety culture, as well as a diligent and effective environmental program. This position will support the daily IC&E activities of the facility.
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, installation and repair of plant electronic, electrical and pneumatic instrumentation and control equipment including; differential pressure (DP) level and flow instruments, pressure, vacuum and temperature instrumentation, control valves and positioners, pneumatic instruments, mass flow instruments, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), relays and various types of analyzers including Continuous Emissions Monitors (GEMS).
  • In coordination with the Lead IC&E Technician review, modify, update or develop logic for control systems under the direction and approval of management and supervision.
  • Conduct testing, troubleshooting, maintenance and grounding activities on all plant electrical systems.
  • Work call‑outs as required to maintain plant availability.
  • Responsible for ensuring all safety rules and procedures are followed on shift.
  • Evaluate operations and activities of assigned responsibilities; recommend improvements and modifications.
  • Generate, prepare, and submit various reports as assigned and directed.
  • Participate in the development of site training materials and documentation as assigned.
  • Provide mentoring, training, guidance and support for site personnel as assigned.
  • Participate in the ongoing development, improvement and revision of applicable policies, standards and procedures as assigned.
  • Responsible to complete assigned safety, administrative, technical or other training as required in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties and administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience and education in industrial control and electrical processes. Experience with the construction, commissioning and start-up of combined cycle facilities is desired.
  • Experience with testing and grounding of low, medium and high voltage systems.
  • Must be able to read, understand and interpret technical documents such as P&ID's, electrical one‑lines, meter and relaying diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, logic diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Experience with modern control systems (DCS, HMI, PLC, etc). Experience with Siemens SPPA‑T3000™ Control Systems or similar controls is desired.
  • Strong aptitude in math, mechanical/electrical ability and production control.
  • Skill in communicating effectively.
  • Experience with computer software programs such as MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Must have the manual dexterity to climb ladders/stairs, reach and operate manual and automatic valves, breakers or other devices, twist to reach equipment surrounding the desk, talk, see and hear with sufficient acuity to successfully perform all aspects of the job, perform simple grasping or fine manipulation, use telephone, computer or communicate through written means.
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs from floor to standing position.
  • Must have the ability to operate motorized equipment such as forklifts, boom supported aerial lifts, snow removal or other equipment as trained and assigned.
  • Must be able to safely work in inclement weather conditions.
Required Credentials and/or Designations: Driver's License.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Requires ability to sit for extended periods of time, periodically bending and twisting and frequently apply a moderate amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
