A leading company is seeking an IBM iSeries / Power Systems Engineer to manage and maintain IBM i systems. The role requires expertise in system administration, backup and recovery, and security hardening. This is a contract-to-hire position with a hybrid work schedule.

*** The job is on-site with a hybrid schedule (3 days in the office / 2 days remote). Candidates must be local or willing to relocate within commuting distance of Pittsburgh, PA; Cleveland, OH (Strongsville); Dallas, TX (Farmers Branch); Phoenix, AZ; Birmingham, AL.

*** Must be willing to work off-hours and weekends as needed and participate in a rotating 24x7 on-call rotation.

IBM iSeries / Power Systems Engineer / System Administrator:

1. Thorough knowledge of IBM i 7.5 (7R5) operating system.
2. Experience with IBM PowerVM and Virtual Input/Output Server (VIOS) configuration and maintenance.
3. Experience with client Logical Partition (LPAR) IBM i Virtual Machines (VMs).
4. Experience with IBM i Program Temporary Fixes (PTFs), IBM Power firmware updates (Power 10), patching, and upgrading IBM Hardware Management Consoles (HMCs).
5. Experience with Virtual Tape Library (VTL) solutions (DSI preferred).
6. Proficiency in Backup, Recovery, and Media Services (BRMS) scheduling, vaulting, and troubleshooting failed backups.
7. Ability to restore an IBM i system from backups using BRMS.
8. Experience with data replication software (Quick Enterprise Data Distributor (QEDD) preferred).
9. Experience with exit point security management software (Assure Security System Access preferred).
10. Knowledge of security hardening using Center for Internet Security (CIS) Benchmarks.
11. Some programming experience in Control Language (CL), Report Program Generator (RPG), or SQL.
12. Ideally, experience managing IBM DS9500 Storage Area Network (SAN) storage.
