Job summary

Polar Seltzer is seeking an IBM i Systems Administrator to oversee the IBM i environment, security, and connected applications across multiple facilities in Worcester, MA. You will monitor processing, support Infor LX ERP, and drive upgrades, backups, and disaster recovery.

Responsibilities include system administration, security controls, job scheduling, performance tuning, and collaboration with IT and business teams. On-call rotation and on-site work are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field—or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience—preferred.
• Five or more years of production experience administering IBM i environments.
• Strong knowledge of IBM i, Db2 for i, IBM Power Systems, security, performance tuning, and backup and recovery.
• Proficiency with IBM Navigator for i, HMC, and related platform-management and troubleshooting tools.
• Experience automating administrative tasks with CL, SQL, or comparable scripting tools.
• Experience supporting ERP systems in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain IBM Power Systems, IBM i, Db2 for i, and related infrastructure.
• Monitor system health, capacity, CPU, memory, and storage; manage alerts.
• Manage scheduled and active batch jobs and nightly processing.
• Provide first-line support for Infor LX and troubleshoot IBM i hardware and software issues.
• Manage printers, output queues, and environment refreshes.
• Apply OS upgrades, patches, PTFs, and software deployments with minimal disruption.
• Manage and test backup, restore, DR, and business continuity procedures.
• Administer user profiles, authorities, and security controls; monitor logs for vulnerabilities.
• Optimize workloads, memory, and system performance; report capacity risks.
• Maintain documentation and collaborate on migrations, upgrades, and integrations.
• Participate in on-call rotation and other duties as needed.
