Job summary

Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville seeks a part-time lactation consultant to support inpatient mother-baby units, newborn care, and breastfeeding goals. You will work as a mentor within a multidisciplinary team, delivering education to nurses, clinicians, and families.

Shifts are 24 hours per week in nights; you will develop childbirth and breastfeeding education, manage lactation services, and participate in staff training.

Qualifications

• Lactation knowledge used to support breastfeeding goals.
• Mentor staff on lactation practices and patient education.
• Educate patients and families about breastfeeding options.
• Coordinate education programs for nursing staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct lactation care to inpatient mother-baby pairs and neonates.
• Develops and revises childbirth, newborn care, and breastfeeding education for parents.
• Organizes workshops and continuing education for nursing staff and students.
• Assists in managing the breast pump rental program.
• Oversees workflow in the perinatal education department.
• Performs other duties as assigned within department scope.
