Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn is seeking a Certified Lactation Registered Nurse (IBCLC Certification Required). This role provides education, assistance and support to breastfeeding women and their babies within a teaching hospital setting in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

The nurse assesses, plans, and implements lactation care, coordinates pump/discharge resources, and collaborates with nursing leadership on quality initiatives while ensuring regulatory compliance and ongoing professional growth.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program.
• NY State RN License/BLS Certification.
• Current Certification by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE).
• Lactation Consultant Course.
• Minimum of 2 years Certified Lactation RN experience.
• Evidence of excellent interpersonal and communication skills; creative problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Performs a complete assessment of the breastfeeding mother and infant.
• Analyzes assessment information to identify concerns and/or problems.
• Implements a plan of care for the breastfeeding mother and infant.
• Considers the needs and behaviors of specific patient age groups and cultures.
• Manages the Breast Pump Discharge Program to ensure pumps at home upon discharge.
• Promotes professional growth and development.
• Serves as a resource for education of other health professionals.
• Educates parents on all aspects of infant feeding and discharge resources.
• Ensures compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
• Ensures Donor Milk program is compliant with regulations.
• Participates in Women and C Services Quality and Performance Improvement Councils.
• Liaises for cross-campus breastfeeding updates.
• Supports new breastfeeding initiatives with leadership.
• Applies research findings to support lactating mothers and babies.
