Job summary

Magellan International School in Austin, TX seeks a Physical Education Teacher for Preschool and Primary School (PP3–1st Grade). You will design engaging PE lessons, integrate IB PYP concepts, and coach multiple sports while supporting holistic student development.

The role involves supervising active learning, collaborating with teachers, and contributing to field day planning and community activities. A strong commitment to safety, inclusion, and journals of progress will be essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology or related field.
• Minimum of two years of experience teaching and/or coaching young children.
• Fluent English, strong written and spoken communication.
• Experience with IB PYP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Designs, plans, and implements physical education lessons.
• Plans and teaches lessons following the IB Primary Years Program (PYP) curriculum, differentiating for individual student needs.
• Educates students in physical fitness, motor skills, sports rules, and healthy habits.
• Fosters teamwork, discipline, and self-confidence among students.
• Maintains equipment and ensures a safe, clean environment for physical activities.
• Organizes and supervises extracurricular sports and fitness programs.
• Collaborates with other teachers and staff to coordinate physical education efforts.
• Adapts lessons for varying abilities and needs.
• Maintains records of student progress and assessment.
• Assists in planning Field Day and Sports Day across school levels.
• Coaches a minimum of two sports during the academic year.
