Job summary

Prospect Schools in Brooklyn, NY is seeking an organized Academic Counselor to support students and families across our IB‑aligned network of seven schools.

The role emphasizes counseling, MTSS data analysis, attendance interventions, and collaboration with teachers and administrators to ensure equitable promotion paths for all students.

You will report directly to the Director of International Baccalaureate and help foster a welcoming, inclusive school culture that supports diverse learners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• At least 2 years of school-based counseling or social work experience.
• Experience coaching IB Diploma Programme is strongly preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and data-driven approach.

Responsibilities

• Regularly analyze academic performance data to identify at-risk students and design interventions.
• Provide individual and group counseling and referrals as needed.
• Coordinate MTSS processes with Student Affairs and Support Services.
• Explain promotion requirements based on credits and NYS Regents Exams.
• Maintain communication of progress to students, families, and advisors.
• Manage a caseload for IEP counseling when required.
• Support attendance intervention and data-driven improvement.
