Job summary

Carlex is seeking a Quality Leader to uphold policy, ensure IATF and ISO compliance, and own PPAP documentation. You will drive PFMEA, DVP&R updates, and supplier coordination while leading plant‑level quality initiatives.

You will collaborate with Corporate Quality and the Quality Manager to evolve standards and sustain effective quality systems across the site, with occasional travel to support customer requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years quality experience in manufacturing with a degree; or 8+ years with a HS diploma/equivalent.
  • IATF Internal Auditor certification required.
  • IATF Lead Auditor preferred.
  • Recent Core Tools training or willingness to complete within first year.

Responsibilities

  • Champion and uphold the Carlex Quality Policy across the plant.
  • Maintain facility compliance with IATF‑16949:2024 and ISO 9001:2024.
  • Own production documentation to PPAP standards: Control Plans, DVP&R, PFMEA, Standardized Work.
  • Monitor warranty performance and supplier PPAP files; drive timely responses.
  • Oversee process audits and finished‑goods inspections for quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Quality and the Quality Manager to evolve internal plant standards.
  • Ensure quality systems are sustained and used by associates.
  • Communicate major quality concerns to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Build partnerships with customers and suppliers.
  • Travel occasionally to assembly plants to review product and work with customer personnel.
  • Apply knowledge of FMVSS‑205, ECER43, CCC and other regulations.

Job description

What your day looks like

You start by reviewing overnight quality alerts and warranty dashboards from customers, then walk the floor to verify that standardized work is being followed and that our control plans are living documents. Midday, you partner with Corporate Quality and the Quality Manager to refine plant‑specific quality control standards. In the afternoon, you lead a PFMEA refresh for a key process, update DVP&R status, and validate PPAP evidence. You close the day by communicating any significant quality issues to stakeholders across the company and aligning with suppliers on next steps.

What you’ll lead and deliver
  • Champion and uphold the Carlex Quality Policy across the plant.
  • Maintain facility compliance with IATF‑16949:2024 and ISO 9001:2024, plus customer‑specific quality systems and requirements.
  • Own the creation and maintenance of production documentation to PPAP standards: Control Plans, DVP&R, PFMEA, and Standardized Work.
  • Monitor customer‑supplied warranty performance and supplier PPAP files; drive timely, appropriate responses.
  • Oversee process audits and finished‑goods inspections to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Partner with Corporate Quality and the Quality Manager to develop and evolve internal plant quality control standards.
  • Ensure quality systems and procedures are sustained and effectively used by all associates.
  • Communicate major quality concerns clearly at every level of the organization.
  • Build partnership‑style relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with plant teams to resolve day‑to‑day issues and elevate product and process quality.
  • Travel occasionally to assembly plants to review product and work face‑to‑face with customer personnel.
  • Apply knowledge of government‑required testing, reporting, and recordkeeping, including FMVSS‑205, ECER43, CCC, and other country regulations.
Your background
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or another technical field; or
  • High school diploma/equivalent plus at least 8 years of relevant manufacturing quality experience.
Experience
  • 3+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment with an undergraduate degree; or
  • 8+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment with a high school diploma/equivalent.
Certifications & training
  • IATF Internal Auditor certification (required).
  • IATF Lead Auditor (preferred).
  • Recent Core Tools training, or willingness to complete within the first year.
Methods & knowledge
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Total Quality concepts, and Six Sigma.
  • Strong understanding of IATF and ISO standards and how to implement them in automotive Tier 1 and Tier 2 environments.
Tools & competencies
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Hands‑on problem solving and analytical mindset; excellent analytical skills.
