Job summary

George Mason University Information Technology Services seeks an IAM Platform Lead to define enterprise IAM architecture, standards, and governance for Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, and related services. You will lead modernization of legacy Linux-hosted IAM systems while ensuring continuity across campus identity populations.

You will collaborate with cybersecurity, HR, and applications teams to steer design decisions, onboarding patterns, and Zero Trust controls, including SSO and MFA,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Significant experience designing or governing enterprise IAM capabilities (Entra ID, AD, SSO, MFA, governance).
• Knowledge of SAML/OAuth/OpenID Connect, and legacy identity patterns.
• Ability to translate complex IAM architectures into business and governance recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Define enterprise IAM reference architecture, target-state roadmap, and standards for identity controls.
• Own authority and lifecycle decisions across workforce, research, and external collaborator populations.
• Establish onboarding, federation, SSO, and audit-evidence standards for enterprise apps and campus systems.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, HR, IT infrastructure, and application owners to review designs and approve exceptions.
• Provide architectural guidance for IAM incidents, modernization efforts, and migration planning.
• Contribute to cross-functional projects as the IAM program evolves.
