Job summary

Lambda is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Identity and Access Management team. You will define how identity, authentication, authorization, and key-management services are built and scaled across Lambda Cloud, spanning APIs, Console, Kubernetes, and cloud services.

This technically engaged leadership role owns execution, team health, architecture, strategy, and delivery for highly available, low-latency IAM services.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of professional software engineering experience, including leadership of engineering teams.
• Built and operated large-scale distributed systems with high availability and security.
• Strong judgment across cloud infrastructure and IAM—authentication, authorization, workload identity, privileged access.
• Engage in architecture, pressure-test designs, and guide tradeoffs for security, scale, and operability.
• Proven track record leading high-performing teams through growth and change.
• Drove cross-functional platform or security initiatives without direct authority.
• Translate complex infrastructure problems into clear strategy and execution.
• Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders and uphold engineering quality.
• BS, MS, or PhD in CS or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and grow the IAM engineering team and hire engineers.
• Define and deliver long-term technical and architectural strategy for Lambda's IAM platform.
• Develop secure, scalable identity capabilities for people, services, and workloads.
• Evolve the authorization platform with RBAC, policy evaluation, and least privilege defaults.
• Ensure consistent APIs and integration standards across Lambda services.
• Own Lambda’s Key Management Service and key lifecycle controls.
• Oversee reliability, security, performance, and operations of IAM services.
• Translate enterprise requirements into durable platform capabilities and communicate health to leadership.
• Balance complexity with simple experiences for customers.
