Job summary

Furman University is hiring a Research Assistant to support IACH research and evaluation projects with community and clinical health partners. You will assist with scheduling meetings, taking minutes, IRB submissions, literature reviews, data collection, data cleaning, descriptive analyses, and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, or health-related field required.
  • At least one year of experience in applied health research or program evaluation required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to balance deliverables across multiple projects.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules study meetings with external partners and assists with agendas and minutes.
  • Supports the development and amendment of IRB applications.
  • Supports development of study instruments including surveys, focus group guides, and interview guides.
  • Assists with literature reviews and scoping reviews.
  • Collects qualitative and quantitative data following study protocols.
  • Enters and manages study data in RED Cap, Qualtrics, and other data management platforms.
  • Cleans data and conducts descriptive statistics for reports and manuscripts.
  • Supports development of peer‑reviewed manuscripts.
  • Coordinates with project leads to ensure study timelines and deliverables.
  • Assists with logistics and operations such as administering study incentives or processing qualitative transcripts.
  • Participates as a member of the Community Action team and attends relevant IACH meetings.
  • Maintains research professionalism and handles sensitive data.
  • Employees may be asked to perform other job-related tasks.

Job Summary

  • Supports the development and amendment of IRBapplications.

Relationships

Continuous contact with members of own work unit to plan,coordinate, problem solve, exchange information, and makesuggestions related to mutual and institutional goals.

Frequent interaction with IACH partners to exchange information,engage in creative problem solving and conduct collaborativeevaluations.

Responsibility for Final Decisions

Responsible for own work.

Reviews work to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, anddeadlines.

Education/Skill Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, or other healthrelated field required.
