Job summary

Swisscom (Schweiz) AG is seeking a DevOps engineer to contribute hands-on to a modern Infrastructure-as-a-Service platform built on VMware technologies. You will automate operational activities, build IaC and configuration management with Ansible and Python, and improve platform reliability through monitoring and continuous optimization.

You will work in a DevOps environment with opportunities to collaborate across operations and engineering, with flexible hours and the option to work from home

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Ansible roles and collections.
• Strong Python and CI/CD automation experience.
• Experience with VMware virtualization and OS management (RHEL/Windows).
• Experience with monitoring tools like vRealize, Prometheus, Grafana, Logstash.

Responsibilities

Your future starts here As part of a DevOps team, you contribute hands-on to the development and evolution of a modern Infrastructure-as-a-Service platform built on VMware technologies. Your focus is on automating operational activities and improving infrastructure services through software development. You work closely with colleagues from operations and engineering to enhance platform reliability, efficiency, and scalability. In this dynamic environment, you have the opportunity to contribute ideas, drive improvements, and continuously expand your expertise.

Develop and enhance automation solutions for a large-scale infrastructure platform.

Work in a DevOps environment where development and operations are part of daily business.

Build Infrastructure as Code and configuration management solutions using Ansible and Python.

Improve platform reliability through monitoring, automation, and continuous optimization.

Contribute to the evolution of VMware-based infrastructure services.

Your skills

• Several years of hands‑on experience with Ansible, including maintaining and developing roles and collections
• Strong Python skills and experience developing automation solutions in alignment with CI/CD practices, Git, and infrastructure automation
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere and VMware Cloud Director, as well as experience managing operating systems (RHEL/Windows) and DNS services
• Experience in monitoring technologies such as vRealize Suite, Prometheus, Grafana, and Logstash
• Experience analysing operational workflows and automating repetitive tasks
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Curious, flexible, and eager to learn new technologies and approaches
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in German is considered an advantage
