Job summary

ExxonMobil is seeking a safety-conscious technician in Louisiana to perform and supervise the maintenance of control systems, electrical infrastructure, and communications equipment. The role emphasizes adherence to safety standards and accurate documentation.

You will troubleshoot control devices, read P&IDs, and coordinate with contractors. Occasional travel and overnight stays may be required as part of routine field support.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to staying safe and following company safety programs.
  • Ability to plan daily work activities in accordance with procedures.
  • Effective reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills for documentation and workspace.
  • Proficient with hand tools and basic pipeline equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties to the highest safety standards and report incidents.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain pressure transmitters, MOVs, PLC systems and control devices.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain communications equipment and components.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and timely (e.g., crossings).
  • Use loop drawings and specs to install, maintain, and troubleshoot devices.
  • Read pipeline alignment and electrical drawings, and P&ID diagrams.
  • Oversee contractors to maintain electrical infrastructure needs.
  • Demonstrate ownership and accountability for all work.
  • Lead Safety Meetings and promote safe work practices.
  • Perform calculations for over/short reconciliation.
  • Travel may be required, including overnight stays at locations outside the local area.

What you will do


  • Perform job duties to highest safety standards implementing the Company safety program(s), including reporting all incidents and discrepancies

  • Troubleshoot and maintain pressure transmitters, MOVs, PLC systems and other control systems/components

  • Troubleshoot and maintained communication equipment and components

  • Complete required documentation accurately and timely (e.g. foreign line crossings)

  • Utilize loop drawings and specification sheets to install, maintain and troubleshoot control devices

  • Read and understand pipeline alignment drawings, site electrical drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams

  • Oversee contractor necessary to maintain electrical infrastructure needs

  • Exemplify ownership and accountability for all work

  • Lead Safety Meetings

  • Perform various mathematical calculations associated with over/short reconciliation

  • Recognize unusual operating conditions and initiate required emergency response procedures

  • The role may require occasional travel, including overnight stays and temporary work at locations outside the local area


About you

Skills and Qualifications



  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a consistent safe work ethic

  • Ability to plan daily work activities in accordance with established Company and Regulatory procedures

  • Ability to communicate (read, write, and speak) effectively

  • Have good organizational skills (documentation, work area, etc.)

  • Ability to operate hand tools or other pipeline equipment to accomplish assigned tasks

  • Able to use Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Knowledge of emergency response procedures and DOT motor carrier regulations

  • Must be willing and able to attend/complete required training courses

  • Must be willing and able to work in small team environments

  • Must be willing and able to work in various locations, both indoors and outdoors, in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures

  • Must have safe driving skills

  • Must possess a valid driver's license


Preferred Qualifications/ Experience



  • 3 years of relevant work experience or associates degree
