Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and commission electrical, instrumentation, and automation equipment.
  • Support preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to maximize reliability.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and networks under general supervision.
  • Read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, loop drawings, P&IDs, and manuals.
  • Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of motors, VFDs, MCCs, and medium-voltage equipment.
  • Document maintenance activities and calibration records accurately.
  • Participate in root-cause failure investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency callouts as required.

Job Summary

The I&E Technician is responsible for the safe installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and commissioning of electrical, instrumentation, automation, SCADA, and industrial communication systems that support company operations. This position assists in maintaining the reliability, safety, and performance of production facilities by working on equipment ranging from low‑voltage DC instrumentation circuits to 4,160 VAC power distribution systems. You must be self‑motivated and be able to work with little direct supervision. You will be expected to participate in a call‑out schedule.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform all work safely in accordance with company policies, OSHA regulations, NEC requirements, and applicable industry standards.
  • Assist Technical and Operations Supervisors with the installation, maintenance, repair, and modification of electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems.
  • Support preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability and production.
  • Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and commission electrical, instrumentation, and automation equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial communication networks under general supervision.
  • Install and maintain metering equipment, including volumetric and mass flow measurement devices.
  • Read and interpret electrical one‑line diagrams, schematics, loop drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
  • Assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting of electric motors, motor‑operated valves, VFDs, MCCs, and medium‑voltage equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance on instrumentation, electronic tank gauging systems, and facility computer hardware.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation systems at compressor stations, CDPs, LACT facilities, water injection facilities, generators, and pipeline equipment.
  • Document maintenance activities, equipment repairs, and calibration records accurately.
  • Participate in root‑cause failure investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in the department's on‑call rotation and respond to emergency callouts as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Accredited one or two‑year technical diploma meeting the requirements of a professional technical designation
  • Journeyman license preferred
Experience
  • 3+ years of O&G experience in electrical or instrumentation maintenance and repair required.
Skills & Abilities
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team under general supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Basic analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems.

Licenses/ Certifications
  • Valid driver's license with a driving record acceptable to QB Energy's insurance carrier.
  • Must be able to meet all DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements, as applicable.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all company‑required safety and technical certifications.
  • Colorado Journeyman Electrician license preferred.
  • Associate degree or technical certificate in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Industrial Automation preferred.
Compensation

Final level and offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise.

Work Conditions
Location

This position is in Parachute, CO. Candidates currently residing in locations outside of daily commuting distance will be considered, however, it is the expectation that the selected individual will be available at the work location.

Work Environment

This is a full‑time position that operates in a field environment. The role requires flexibility to work weekends, nights, holidays, and handle callouts as needed. Employees must be able to work and drive in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, wind, snow, and rain. Overtime may occasionally be required, resulting in extended work shifts. Individuals must possess the physical ability to safely handle the tools necessary to perform their duties. This position is subject to federally mandated drug and alcohol testing.

Physical Demands

In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time. While at work sites, the employee will be expected to walk and stand. Individuals might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individuals might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to a minimum of 50 lbs. in the performance of this position.
