Job summary

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ oil and gas experience, Zone/Lease Operator preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Hazwoper, H2S safety, and first aid certifications preferred.
  • Proficiency with math for calculating volumes and gas flow rates.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and field data reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Cover PTO/Vacation to ensure continuous operations.
  • Monitor wells and facilities daily incl. volumes, pressures, and chemical usage.
  • Represent the company and train new or less experienced Operators.

Job Summary

The Floating Zone Operator is responsible for monitoring, operating, and maintaining production equipment within a designated geographic Area. This role provides support for Zone Operators, the Production Foreman, and PTO coverage, often in remote or challenging environments. The Floating Zone Operator ensures efficient production, compliance with safety and environmental standards, and accurate reporting of well and facility performance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance prior to and following lockout/tagout procedures. Perform and supervise repairs on surface production equipment.
  • Cover Zone Operator PTO/Vacation to ensure production operations remain consistent.
  • Monitor Area wells and production facilities daily, checking gas, oil, and water volumes, well pressures, and chemical usage.
  • Represent the company and train new or less experienced Zone Operators.
  • Actively participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Comply with all Company policies, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
  • Operate artificial lift equipment and automation systems to control production flow.
  • Operate and maintain separators, ECDs, and production tank equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and routine repairs as needed.
  • Support and maintain tank batteries and wells to facilitate efficient field operations.
  • Adapt to dynamic work environments, including extended hours, callouts, and schedule changes.
  • Work effectively in cold weather conditions, including managing hydration freezes.
  • Flexibly support other departments as needed.
  • Adhere to all applicable company policies, environmental laws, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Licenses & Certifications
  • Valid driver's license with a driving record acceptable to QB-Energy's insurance carrier.
  • Hazwoper, H2S safety, and first aid certifications preferred
Industry Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant oil and gas industry experience. Preferred Zone/Lease Operator experience.
Specialized Knowledge
  • Basic math skills for calculating tank volumes and gas flow rates.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and True Context software
  • Ability and willingness to learn new applications and technologies.
  • SCADA systems, RTUs, plungers, separators, artificial lift systems, production automation, and field data reporting tools.
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of production pad operations and systems.
  • Safety-conscious with the ability to identify hazards and respond appropriately.
  • Detail-oriented for accurate data recording and maintenance documentation.
  • Adaptable to changing conditions and dynamic operational demands.
  • Ability to respond to and assist in emergency situations, including leaks, equipment failures, or safety incidents.
  • Team-oriented with strong coordination skills for collaborating with supervisors and fellow operators.
  • Coordinate with OCC/Gas Control and other operators to manage product movements and troubleshoot issues.
  • Operate SCADA systems to monitor water or gas levels, alarms, and remote equipment.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining plungers, separators, various RTUs, and related production equipment.
  • Proactively seek guidance and ask questions to ensure task accuracy.
  • Demonstrate initiative by pursuing advanced knowledge and skill development.
  • Computer literate, including effective use of laptops and related technologies.
  • Skilled in operating and maintaining emissions control equipment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in remote field environments.
  • Competent in using manual tools related to well maintenance (e.g., shovels, wrenches, rakes).
  • Capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling tools, equipment, and supplies weighing 50 lbs. or more.
  • Comfortable performing duties in challenging environmental conditions.
Compensation

The base compensation for this role in this location is targeted between $72,800 - $93,600 annually. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the range listed above.

Working Conditions

Location: This position is in Parachute, CO. Candidates currently residing in locations outside of daily commuting distance will be considered, however, it is the expectation that the selected individual will be available at the work location.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position that operates in a field environment. The role requires flexibility to work weekends, nights, holidays, and handle callouts as needed. Employees must be able to work and drive in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, wind, snow, and rain. Overtime may occasionally be required, resulting in extended work shifts. Individuals must possess the physical ability to safely handle the tools necessary to perform their duties. This position is subject to federally mandated drug and alcohol testing.

Physical Demands

In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time. While at work sites, the employee will be expected to walk and stand. Individuals might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individuals might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to a minimum of 50 lbs. in the performance of this position.
