Job description

Job Responsibilities

1. Perform daily assignments of an instrument, mechanical or electrical nature.
2. Perform special assignments as may be required by the Maintenance Supervisors or Maintenance Manager.
3. Train in the Instrument, Mechanical and Electrical area to become fully proficient in troubleshooting problems and performing repair work.
4. Perform necessary cleaning and maintain good housekeeping practices.
5. Be proficient in the use of the SAP maintenance management program to write notifications and create orders, locate stock materials, and review equipment history.
6. Be proficient in the use of company mobile equipment, including, but not limited to, forklifts, scissors lift, JLG, Mule, and truck operation.
7. Replace electric motors, checking wiring, alignment, protection devices & rotation.
8. Perform instrumentation tasks such as change outs of field controllers, probes, automatic valves, and operators.
9. Perform instrument calibrations for all field instruments, including but not limited to flow meters, temperature probes, pH meters, density meters, pressure transmitters, level transmitters, and other field devices.
10. Perform any necessary welding and fabrication functions.
11. Perform necessary lathe and milling functions.
12. Perform proper assembly and rigging functions necessary to complete equipment repairs.
13. Perform necessary alignment and balancing functions.
14. Use specialty hand and shop tools, such as volt and amp meters, meggers, D.C. voltage equipment, hot sticks, static trip test set, ground fault-testers, drills, grinders, cut-off saws, and wrenches.

Safety and Compliance

1. Understand and comply with all Plant rules and Safety requirements.
2. Understand and comply with ISO and FSSC requirements.
3. Be able to prioritize and organize work to make efficient use of resources.
4. Determine appropriate parts, tools, equipment, and manpower for all assignments.
5. Perform Preventive Maintenance inspections, safety inspections, and audits as assigned and provide timely documentation on findings.
6. Troubleshoot the Foxboro I/A and Allen Bradley PLC systems.
7. Troubleshoot low, medium, and high voltage electrical problems and identify proper repairs.
8. Understand ladder diagrams and general control circuit systems. Review and check maintenance documentation for accuracy as required.

Communication

1. Communicate the status of daily assignments to maintenance supervisors, maintenance planner, operations coordinators, engineers, operations manager, and maintenance manager as required.
2. Carry a cell phone as required (usually every eighth week) to answer and respond to plant call-ins to troubleshoot I/E or mechanical problems and to make proper assessments when additional assistance is needed to make repairs.

Minimum Requirements

1. Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
2. Instrument Electrical Certification a plus.
3. Prior instrument mechanical and electrical maintenance experience.
4. Knowledge level in the use of hand and shop tools.
5. Demonstrated effective troubleshooting methods and successes.
6. Ability to lift and carry 55 lbs., climb ladders, and work at heights.
7. Able to learn new tasks and assignments and demonstrated willingness to maintain flexibility and support change.
8. Able to work in a team environment.
9. Prior experience maintaining low, medium, and high voltage equipment.
10. Prior experience of maintaining analog and digital control systems.
11. Work weekends and holidays as the schedule requires and work overtime when requested.
