CarbonFree in San Antonio is looking for an I/E Tech to support our company as it grows. The general responsibilities for an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician are to maintain, troubleshoot, repair and install various types of instrumentation and electrical equipment throughout the plant. The I/E technician functions in a team environment but must also be able to work independently as needed. The I/E technician supports all aspects of electrical, instrumentation and analyzers for the SkyMine plant.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Hands-on experience with Control/Automated Valves, Pressure/Temperature Transmitters, Medium voltage switchgear, MCCs including motor control circuits.
  • Duties include installing, inspecting, maintaining, operating, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating various mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic equipment. Along with completing all appropriate documentation associated with the duties.
  • Assist other I/E techs to accomplish the job on time.
  • Perform troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and installing DCS, PLC and HMI components, motors, A/C and D/C VFD’s, electrical circuits and MCC starters.
  • Stays up to date on Operations Qualifications and required training.

Education and Experience:

  • Two-year Associates Degree in job related technical training or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years or more work experience as an electrical, instrumentation, or controls technician (preferably in a process driven industry, i.e. Oil & Gas, Chemical, or Power)

Knowledge | Skills | Abilities | Working Conditions

  • Perform Troubleshooting, calibrating, replacing, rebuilding, and installing control valves/Instrumentation.
  • Working knowledge of National Electric Codes
  • Experience working with medium (13.8kV) and low (480/277, 120/208) voltage equipment.
  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
  • Must respond to, and address, callouts, and emergencies (within 1 hour) during and after regular business hours including after dark.
  • Must live within a 1-hour response/travel time to the SkyMine facility
  • Overtime may be required and is anticipated.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
  • Position requires long periods of standing, walking, and climbing.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of twenty pounds in awkward positions, and ability to lift fifty pounds from floor to waist (occasional)
