Job summary

Targa Resources is seeking a qualified I/E Technician in Orla, TX. The successful candidate will apply electrical theory and knowledge to maintain and troubleshoot essential systems in the oil and gas industry. This full-time role requires strategic problem-solving abilities and a commitment to safety in a dynamic work environment. Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years of relevant experience and be willing to travel occasionally to other facilities.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience as Instrumentation/Electrical Technician or similar role.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Strong understanding of control valves and transmitters.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot compressor panel control wiring and electrical motors.
  • Perform maintenance on electrical systems from 12vdc to 4160 vac.

Position Title: I&E Technician

Position Location:14912 FM 652, Orla, TX 79770

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Summary of Duties:

  • Apply electrical and electronic theory and related knowledge, under the direction of engineering staff, to design, build, repair, adjust, and modify electrical components, circuitry, controls, and machinery for subsequent evaluation and use by engineering staff in making engineering design decisions.
  • Understand electrical and instrumentation equipment associated with plant processing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair compressor panel control wiring and associated devices.
  • Troubleshoot electrical motor starter panels and motor issues.
  • Read electrical schematics and P&ID’s drawings.
  • Be able to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Maintain and work on different types of control valves and transmitters.
  • Troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Distributed Control System (DCS).
  • Perform processing plants and field booster’s preventive maintenance on electrical systems.
  • Work on electrical systems ranging from 12vdc to 4160 vac.
  • Work with electrical meters and diagnostic tools or troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Diagnostic tools include Fluke 787 to measure Voltage and Current.
  • Trex Hart Communicator used to interface with various Smart devices critical to operations.
  • Meggar Resistance tester used in troubleshooting Motors and wiring.
  • Fluke 773 Milliamp clamp used in troubleshoot ampacity issues.
  • Fluke 725 used in temperature calibrations on multiple devices in the facility.
  • Laptop with various applications to communicate with Allen Bradley Studio 5000 PLCs and VFDs.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and lockout and tag out procedures.

Experience requirements:

  • 3 years of experience as Instrumentation/Electrical Technician or similar role in the gas/energy processing industry.

Travel requirements:

  • Travel 20% of the time to other in-state (TX) facilities.
