POSITIONSUMMARY:
The I&E Technician is responsible for performing corrective & preventative maintenance on I&E systems including analytical equipment, control elements, advanced hardware (computers, telemetry, etc.), logic networks, and other related equipment typically associated with the processing, fractionation, storage, and transportation of natural gas liquids.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Learn and understand Targa’s Safety Policies, Procedures, and Business Ethics Policies. Plan and perform all assignments safely, utilizing proper tools, safety and environmental precautions, permitting, Process Safety Management, and possess a basic knowledge of how their work impacts co-workers and plant operations.
- Have a solid understanding and application experience with programmable logic controllers (PLC), including IEC-61131-3 programming languages, ladder logic, program downloads/uploads, online edits, and troubleshooting.
- Create HMI graphics for local HMI and SCADA systems.
- Evaluate, troubleshoot, and correct control system wiring for transmitters, switch devices, and PLC output commands to control devices.
- Familiarize with Wonderware ArchestrA SCADA system; learn to set up and configure derived instances for new systems.
- Evaluate piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), control panel and junction box diagrams, process flow diagrams, and electrical one-lines.
- Perform configurations and troubleshoot instrumentation such as pressure, temperature, and level instruments.
- Configure and troubleshoot Coriolis flow meters.
- Configure and troubleshoot controls related to variable speed drives (VFD).
- Troubleshoot and correct issues with positive displacement flow meters, including pulse contacts and optical high-speed pulse devices.
- Work with flow computers and RTU I/O wiring, configuration, and communications.
- Possess strong knowledge and skills in EtherNet/IP and Serial Radio installation and configuration.
- Have a solid understanding of electrical theory and controls for low voltage systems; troubleshoot problems related to control systems rated at 120 VAC and less.
- Be familiar with NEC and API codes regarding area classification and electrical component requirements within classified areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record acceptable to the company
- Interpersonal communication skills to interface effectively with teams, personnel, and vendors
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and respond to call-outs as needed; flexible to work shifts for plant or field conditions
- Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 lbs
- Ability to work in changing climate conditions
- Comfortable working in close quarters, kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing
- Adhere to PPE guidelines (eye protection, footwear, Nomex, etc.)
- Reliable attendance
- Willing to live within 60 miles of the job location
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC Logix 5000 and 500 series
- Experience with Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus HMI
- Experience with Freewave radios and Sierra Wireless modems
- Experience with Emerson Rosemount pressure, temperature, and level devices
- Experience with Micromotion Coriolis meters
- Experience with Eaton 9000 series VFDs
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequently push, pull, and lift at least 50 lbs to heights of 3-4 feet; maneuver equipment as needed
- Work outdoors in varying climate conditions
- Work in close quarters, including kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing
- Climb ladders, stairs, and platforms at different heights
- Follow PPE guidelines at all times
