Job summary

Linde Gas & Equipment Inc. in Freeport, TX is seeking an I&E Technician to troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain process control instrumentation and electrical systems within a plant environment.

Responsibilities include repairing control valves, CMMS documentation, and ensuring safety and compliance while performing scheduled maintenance and instrument calibration. A HS diploma plus related experience is required, with AS degree preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • AS degree or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Three years of related experience in process control instrumentation.
  • Proficiency with I/E hand tools, meters, instrument calibration equipment, etc.
  • Working knowledge of electricity, electrical systems, and motors.
  • Ability to read and understand P&ID's and schematic wiring diagrams.
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work safely and in accordance with Linde’s policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and perform minor repairs on low voltage electrical systems (600VAC and below).
  • Troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain pneumatic and electronic analog and digital process control instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoot and repair predictive‑program instrumentation and document repair history in the CMMS system as required by site documentation.
  • Troubleshoot systems using control logic drawings related to process control.
  • Include startup, shutdown, and operation of process plant equipment.
  • Calibrate and maintain process analytical equipment (thermal conductivity, gas chromatograph, electrolytic process analyzers).
  • Schedule and perform maintenance of electrical and electronic control systems, pneumatics, instrumentation, control valves, motor control systems, low‑voltage electrical distribution, computer interfaces, and analytical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair automatic control valves.
  • Ensure spare parts are available or replaced when used/installed.
  • Maintain a high degree of personal safety and environmental awareness at all times.
  • Climb ladders, stairways, and operate man‑lifts for elevated instrumentation and control valve maintenance.
  • Instruct contract personnel on safety rules and regulations and maintain constant surveillance to assure compliance at all times.
