Job summary

ALTA Performance Materials US, LLC is seeking an Instrument & Electrician Mechanic on Neville Island, PA. You will maintain and repair critical plant equipment, troubleshoot electrical and control systems, and support safe, reliable operations.

Key qualifications include reading P&ID diagrams, troubleshooting 120 V AC and 4-20 mA controls, and 480 V motors. The role requires a high school diploma, journeyman electrician certification, and willingness to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Able to read P&ID and electrical diagrams.
• Proficient in troubleshooting 120 V AC and 4-20 mA controls, 480 V motors and switchgear.
• Willing to learn other mechanical maintenance tasks (boiler operation, pumps, piping).
• Knowledge of safe use of tools and equipment (pipe machine, press, drill press, hand tools).
• Comfortable working at height with safety gear (harness and lanyard).
• Certified Journeyman Electrician or equivalent with 5+ years in chemical or related industries.

Responsibilities

• Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on plant equipment.

We are currently looking for a Instrument & Electrician Mechanic to join our team in Neville Island, PA. Job Function

As a part of the plant maintenance team, you will work with production personnel and contractors to maintain and repair equipment as needed. This position is also accountable for the proper operation of plant equipment. Inadequate performance could result in injuries to the employee, people around, the community or the environment. Poor performance can also cause damage to equipment, and downtime. This would cause loss of product or product out of specifications. This is role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Essential Functions

• Perform corrective and other daily miscellaneous maintenance activities as assigned
• Participate in the plant’s preventive maintenance program
• Perform equipment repair and troubleshooting
• Assist in planning, directing and participating in plant turnarounds
• Maintain proper housekeeping and cleaning in area to ensure a safe working environment
• Participate in team efforts to improve safety, employee satisfaction, quality and productivity
• Successfully complete introductory and ongoing safety training.
• Understand and comply with OSHA regulations such as hot work and Lockout/Tagout, as well as company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and understand P&ID and electrical diagrams and other complex electrical drawings and manuals.
• Must be proficient in troubleshooting 120 volt AC and 4-20ma controls, 480 volt motors and switch gear and loop controlled systems.
• Must be willing to learn other general mechanical maintenance tasks/duties (e.g. boiler operation, general pump troubleshooting and maintenance, piping systems, miscellaneous preventive maintenance tasks, etc.)
• Knowledge of safe use and operation of pipe machine, press, drill press, hand tools (wrenches, ratchets, crowbars, etc.), saws, etc.
• Must be comfortable safely working at height, at times with only harness & lanyard
• Must meet one of the following criteria Certified Journeyman as an electrician or instrument technician. Completion of an accredited vocational technical training program as an electrician or instrument technician and minimum 5 years experience in the chemical or related industries. Equivalent industry experience as an electrician or instrument technician in the chemical or related industries may be considered.

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must be willing to work overtime, weekends and call‑ins as required

Physical requirements

• Physical requirements include, but are not limited to lifting 50 lbs., walking/standing/lifting for prolonged periods, wearing personal protective equipment including respiratory equipment in accordance with the ALTA Respiratory Protection Plan.
• Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements of the position
• Requires minimal supervision
• Good written and verbal communication skills, and mathematical skills
• Must pass a drug screen test
• Ability to read and write English
• Ability to work with computers
• Authorized to work in the United States
