Job summary

Prime Controls L.P. is seeking an experienced Estimator to analyze drawings, specs, and RFPs to prepare material quotes, direct costs, and labor estimates for I&E projects. You will read P&IDs, develop quantity takeoffs, and evaluate vendor quotes to deliver competitive estimates.

The role requires knowledge of PLC/DCS systems, instrumentation, and control valves, with strong Excel and proposal-writing skills. Construction or E&C management background preferred, with BIM awareness beneficial.

Qualifications

Ability to read and understand plan drawings (I&C, Mechanical and Electrical).
Ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs from plan drawings and P&IDs.
Knowledge of PLC and/or DCS Systems.
Knowledge of Instrumentation and Control Valve Products.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines.
Advanced Excel; proficient in other Microsoft Office apps.
Proficient in Bluebeam software.
Proposal, scope, and/or technical writing experience.
Construction experience preferred.
Semiconductor or Advanced Manufacturing expertise preferred.
Experience with Procore or Autodesk preferred.
I&E installation experience preferred.
Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred.
BIM awareness and understanding of how BIM supports estimating and coordination preferred.
Experience with NECA/BICSI estimating methodologies preferred.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine quantities and costs.
Develop detailed cost estimates for projects including I&E, copper, ethernet, fiber optic, and low voltage cabling.
Write RFIs to clarify scope and support estimates.
Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
Prepare proposals for change orders and audits.
Collaborate with engineering, project management, procurement, vendors, subcontractors, and field teams.
Maintain current pricing databases.
Identify improvements to estimating tools and processes to improve accuracy.
