Job summary

UPS Industrial Services, LLC. is seeking an experienced Industrial I&E Estimator to develop accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical and instrumentation projects.

You will analyze drawings, specifications, and labor requirements for capital projects, maintenance, shutdowns, and construction activities, coordinating with PMs, engineers, procurement, and operations. Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of industrial electrical and instrumentation experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in industrial construction, maintenance, or turnaround environments.
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, controls, and automation.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, and construction specifications.
  • Experience developing labor-hour and material cost estimates.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare complete electrical and instrumentation cost estimates for industrial construction, maintenance, turnaround, and capital projects.
  • Review client requests for proposals (RFPs), RFQs, specifications, scope documents, drawings, and bid packages.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs from electrical and instrumentation drawings, P&IDs, one-line diagrams, and construction documents.
  • Develop labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and indirect cost estimates.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
  • Analyze project risks, opportunities, and scope gaps to ensure comprehensive pricing.
  • Build detailed estimate summaries, bid tabs, and proposal documentation.
  • Participate in scope clarification meetings, pre-bid conferences, and site visits.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, procurement, and project management teams during estimate development.
  • Develop and maintain estimating databases, labor productivity factors, and historical cost records.
  • Prepare change order estimates and support project cost forecasting as required.
  • Review completed projects to compare actual costs against estimates and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support proposal preparation and management presentations.

Job description

UPS Industrial is looking for Industrial Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Estimators to join our safety conscious team! The I&E Estimator is responsible for developing accurate and competitive cost estimates for industrial electrical and instrumentation projects. This role analyzes project specifications, drawings, scope documents, and labor requirements to prepare detailed estimates for capital projects, maintenance contracts, shutdowns, turnarounds, and construction activities. The I&E Estimator collaborates with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and operations personnel to ensure estimates align with client requirements and company objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare complete electrical and instrumentation cost estimates for industrial construction, maintenance, turnaround, and capital projects.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience estimating projects in oil & gas, petrochemical, refining, chemical, power generation, LNG, pulp & paper, mining, or manufacturing facilities.
  • Knowledge of NEC, ISA, NFPA, and applicable industry standards.
  • Experience with estimating platforms such as Accubid, InEight, HeavyBid, HCSS, Sage Estimating, or similar software.
  • Field construction background in industrial electrical and instrumentation work.
  • Experience with EPC, EPCM, and self-perform construction projects.

This position operates in a professional office setting with periodic visits to industrial facilities, construction sites, refineries, manufacturing plants, and other heavy industrial environments. Appropriate PPE may be required during site visits.
