Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced I&E (Instrumentation & Electrical) Construction Manager / Construction Lead to lead construction management activities for industrial capital projects. This role will provide field leadership and construction expertise across safety, quality, cost, schedule, staffing, contractor management, planning, and project execution.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience leading I&E construction activities and contractors in an industrial, chemical, petrochemical, manufacturing, or similar environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead I&E construction activities and Construction Management staff for assigned projects.
- Provide visible, proactive leadership in safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
- Promote construction safety best practices and support a zero-incident safety culture.
- Develop construction management plans and identify required construction resources.
- Work with project and construction leadership to address staffing and resource requirements.
- Provide construction expertise during Front End Loading (FEL) and project planning.
- Participate in constructability reviews and identify opportunities to improve safety, cost, quality, and productivity.
- Support development of integrated construction schedules and monitor progress against project milestones.
- Identify schedule issues and communicate delays or discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Manage construction contractors and support labor strategy, labor contracts, claims, and labor cost control.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure construction activities are executed according to project requirements.
- Ensure project budgets and construction resource plans are aligned.
- Apply established construction work processes, standards, and best practices.
- Support quality planning to minimize construction, start-up, and operability issues.
- Coach and mentor less-experienced construction personnel.
- Promote the use of effective construction technologies and best practices.
- Provide continuous improvement feedback regarding construction methods, technology, safety, cost, and productivity.
Required / Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
- 5-10+ years of relevant construction experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Strong experience with Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) construction.
- Experience leading construction teams, contractors, or subcontractors.
- Industrial construction experience, preferably within chemical, petrochemical, refinery, manufacturing, or similar facilities.
- Experience with construction planning, scheduling, resource management, and project execution.
- Knowledge of construction safety, quality, cost control, and schedule management.
- Experience with contractor/labor management and construction cost control.
- Knowledge of constructability and Front End Loading (FEL) processes is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
