Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Technician, Solar Cells (Starlink) to support integration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automation and controls on our solar cell production lines.

You will work with PLC/HMI/SCADA, build and wire control panels to NFPA 79 and UL 508A, diagnose faults, and collaborate with engineers and specialists to maximize uptime while upholding safety and cleanroom standards.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; 2+ years in manufacturing with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems, or a bachelor’s in engineering/math/science.
Knowledge of NFPA 70/70E/79 and UL 508A codes.
Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics; troubleshoot and resolve faults.
Experience with PLC/HMI/SCADA systems; familiarity with Beckhoff TwinCAT, Siemens, or Allen-Bradley platforms.
Comfort with safety standards, LOTO, and high-stress production environments.
Strong documentation, 5S, CMMS, and continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

Support integration and commissioning of vendor/OEM equipment into Ignition SCADA and production line controls.
Perform safe electrical work within LOTO, arc-flash, guarding and safety validations.
Maximize uptime through troubleshooting and corrective actions on electromechanical systems.
Wire, commission, and maintain industrial control panels and field devices to NFPA 79 and UL 508A.
Diagnose PLCs, HMIs, alarms, and I/O, and document changes.
Set up sensors, actuators, network health, and signal validation.
Support VFDs, servo systems, robotics, conveyors, AGVs/AMRs.
Collaborate with engineers and maintenance teams for safe, reliable solutions.
Maintain documentation, 5S, inventory control.
Ensure compliance with safety and cleanroom standards where applicable.
