Job summary

SpaceX in Bastrop, TX is looking for an Instrumentation & Controls Technician to provide hands‑on support for integration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automation and controls on our solar cell production lines. This role focuses on safe, structured execution of repairs and uptime maximization on electromechanical and robotic systems.

You will work with PLC/HMI/SCADA systems, electrical panels, sensors, and industrial networks, ensuring reliable operation in a high‑volume

Qualifications

Experience with automation controls and electrical panel work.
Ability to read electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic schematics and drawings.
Familiarity with SCADA systems and industrial networks.
Knowledge of NFPA 70/70E/79 and UL 508A is a plus.
Strong documentation, organization, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Support integration and commissioning of vendor/OEM equipment into centralized SCADA software and production line controls.
Perform safe electrical work within LOTO, arc‑flash, guarding, interlock, and restart verification requirements.
Maximize uptime through troubleshooting, repairs, and corrective actions on electromechanical, robotic, pneumatic, and control systems.
Wire, commission, validate, and maintain industrial control panels and field devices to NFPA 79 & UL 508A.
Navigate PLCs, HMIs, alarms, sequences, and I/O; capture evidence and assist with parameter adjustments.
Set up and verify sensors, instrumentation, vision, encoders, IO-Link devices, and industrial networks.
Support controls for VFDs, servo systems, motion axes, robots, conveyors, and AGVs/AMRs.
Provide process‑critical controls support; ensure product quality and process stability.
Perform fault finding and root‑cause analysis; collaborate with engineers and maintenance for improvements.
Maintain documentation, tickets, and a clean workspace; adhere to safety, cleanroom (as applicable), and regulatory requirements.
