Job summary

McKim & Creed, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer III to join our Tampa/ Clearwater team. The role focuses on leading engineering projects from design through completion, within budget and schedule, with direct client interaction.

You will develop plans, coordinate with multiple team members, prepare reports and permit submittals, and support process improvements across projects. A PE license and 10 years’ experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer registration or ability to acquire licensure.
  • 10 years' professional experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Design and plan production experience utilizing AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical and/or Revit.
  • Knowledge of control system design and specifications.
  • Ability to balance multiple work assignments on multiple projects.
  • Ability to work alone but also effectively as part of a team.
  • Process-oriented thinking with strong organizational and technical skills.
  • Excellent communication, and the ability to take and understand directives from Project Engineers and Project Managers.
  • Ability to complete work consistently, with moderate flexibility to accommodate varying demands from Project Managers.

Responsibilities

  • Create action plans for development and project completion within budget and schedule.
  • Lead projects from design stage through completion with multiple team members.
  • Interact with clients, prepare reports and permit submittals for engineering projects.
  • Balance multiple tasks across several projects.
  • Coordinate RFIs, submittals, contract modifications, and other changes.
  • Analyze processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to identify and troubleshoot problems.
  • Coordinate with other engineering departments as needed.
  • Participate in site visits, agency and municipal meetings.

Job description

Overview

The Project Engineer III will work out of the Tampa or Clearwater, Florida office and will contribute and work with the project team in the development and project completion of assigned engineering projects. Responsibilities include completing project tasks within a specified budget and schedule and frequently interacting and working directly with clients. The Project Engineer will also analyze processes and systems to identify ways to improve efficiency, increase quality, and reduce costs in collaboration with the project team.

DURING YOUR WORKDAY, YOU WILL
  • Work with the project team to create an action plan for the development and project completion of assigned engineering projects, ensuring projects remain within a specified budget and schedule.
  • Be responsible for bringing project from the design stage through to completion with multiple project team members.
  • Interact and work directly with clients, conduct preliminary evaluations, prepare various reports, produce detailed technical specifications and drawing packages, and prepare permit submittals for engineering projects.
  • Balance multiple tasks on multiple projects.
  • Coordinate with the project team regarding RFIs, submittals, contract modifications, and other changes to the project.
  • Analyze processes and systems to identify ways to improve efficiency, increase quality, and reduce costs.
  • Collaborate with the Project Managers to identify and troubleshoot problems.
  • Coordinate with other engineering departments when necessary.
  • Participate in site visits, agency meetings, and municipal meetings as needed.
WHAT YOU NEED
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer registration or the ability to acquire licensure.

WHAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND OUT
  • Experience in the water and wastewater industry performing consulting engineering is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer Licensure - Florida.
  • Prefer candidates with experience in acquiring permits from review agencies on a local, state, and federal level, including direct coordination and communication.
