Job Summary

Responsible for basic operational knowledge of all plant systems and perform operation of the equipment within specification and environmental regulations, working under the direction of skilled Plant Technicians. The role involves learning the proper function and performing maintenance of equipment at a Gas Plant for the Gas fleet, promoting safe, effective, and reliable operation.

Key Accountabilities

• Assist or perform troubleshooting of plant equipment.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure proper functioning.
• Conduct daily maintenance, construction, demolition, overhauls, repair, replacement, and removal/installation of plant equipment and structures.
• Provide clearances in LOTOV under the direction of a senior operator or supervisor.
• Utilize and operate various types of hand, power, precision, or machine tools.
• Maintain working knowledge of all electronic control systems and computers.
• Understand and follow current safety and environmental regulations.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures, including Lockout/Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety, and PPE.
• Apply core networking concepts: IP addressing, subnetting, routing, and switching.
• Familiarize with industrial communication protocols such as MODBUS TCP, DNP3, OPC.
• Read and interpret network diagrams.
• Understand thin client architecture.
• Know how SCADA, DCS, and PLC systems can be integrated.
• Understand basic NERC CIP requirements.

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements

• Minimum two (2) years of related experience.
• Must have successfully completed the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS/MASS) program.
• Demonstrate satisfactory completion of Tier 1 job performance measures (Operations, Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrument & Controls).
• High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
• Demonstrate standard computer-based skills.
• Demonstrate effective oral and verbal communication skills.
• For PT1-E candidates, meet the additional requirements of the program.

Key Metrics

• Progression of skill within the primary skill set.
• Satisfactory completion of Tier 2 job performance measures, primarily composed of sign-offs of different primary and auxiliary system operations and maintenance.
• Demonstrate continual self-improvement in job skills and knowledge.
