Job summary

Luminant Generation Company LLC in Sunnyvale, Texas, seeks an I&C Technician to perform operations and maintenance on plant instrumentation and control systems under site management direction.

You will troubleshoot, calibrate, repair equipment, and assist in developing operating procedures. The role requires adherence to safety programs and flexibility for night and weekend shifts to ensure safe, reliable plant operations.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Instrumentation or Electronics with 1 year as I&C Technician or HS diploma with 3 years related experience.
  • Completion of Tier 2 within primary skill for position performance.
  • Demonstrate computer-based skills and effective oral & verbal communication.
  • Independent troubleshooting ability and willingness to work nights/weekends.

  • Proficient in maintenance of plant instrumentation and control systems.
  • Troubleshoot and document issues; assist in problem resolution on shift.
  • Perform daily/overhaul maintenance, calibration, repair/replacement and installation of plant equipment.
  • Calibrate and maintain power plant instrumentation systems; develop operating procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures; participate in safety topics and LOTO/JSA practices.
  • Learn to input work requests into Maximo; assist in design and implementation of O&M projects.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing operations functions, preventive and corrective maintenance as applicable to job function to ensure proper functioning of plant equipment will work under the direction of site management. This position is responsible for the proper function and maintenance of equipment at a Gas Plant for the Gas fleet. Responsible for promoting safe, effective, and reliable operation.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

  • Proficient in maintenance of process control instrumentation
  • Proficient skills for maintaining equipment at the plant
  • Performs troubleshooting and documentation, and assists in the resolution of problems discovered on shift
  • Performs daily maintenance, overhauls, calibration, troubleshooting, repair/replacement and removal/installation of plant equipment and auxiliary systems.
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot and maintain power plant instrumentation systems and control systems.
  • Makes decisions and recommends appropriate repair techniques for plant equipment to peers, supervisors, plant management.
  • Conducts excitation system inspections and preventive maintenance
  • Proficient in operating material handling equipment
  • Develops and implements plant operating procedures
  • Understands relationship of equipment to plant systems
  • May provide instruction and teaching to lower level employees
  • Ensures strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance including but not limited to Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety and PPE
Level of position will be determined by applicable skills/experience.
Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements:
  • Associates degree in Instrumentation or Electronics and one (1) year as an I&C TechnicianorHigh School Diploma/GED equivalent with three (3) years related work experience required.
  • Satisfactory completion of Tier 2 within primary skill for position job performance measure
  • Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrate computer based skills
  • Demonstrate effective oral & verbal communications skills
  • Independent knowledge of troubleshooting
  • Ability to work nights and weekends based on plant needs.
  • All applicants must be a successful candidate on the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS / MASS) program in order to be considered a candidate for this position. POSS / MASS exams are administered on an as‑needed basis by Human Resources and all communication concerning the testing is sent to the candidate’s email address provided during the application process.

  • Satisfactory completion of Tier 3 training and qualification requirements
  • Demonstrate continual self improvement in job skills and knowledge.
  • Perform work incorporating strict adherence to Safety procedures and best practices and continually observe for safe working practices.
  • Regularly develops and presents safety topics.
  • Develop an understanding of HPI tools through training opportunities and practice. Actively participate in Pre/Post Job briefs.
  • Work with other technicians to perform routine and emergency maintenance and/or compliance activities on the plant instrumentation and control systems including weekends, holidays, and scheduled shift.
  • Cover Unit start-up and shut-down activities with assistance from other Technicians.
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot and maintain power plant instrumentation systems and equipment.
  • Learn to enter WRs and PRs into Maximo.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of O&M and Capital projects.
  • Learn to communicate LOTO requests to Operations.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with Operations, Electrical, Purchasing, Warehouse personnel, other support groups and vendors.
