Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking a Lead I&C Engineer within the Project Management and Construction (PMC) group to guide technical management across all project phases, including DCS design, procurement, and commissioning for new generation assets.

The role leads a matrixed team of engineers, ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance while collaborating with transmission and EPC interfaces across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or PE.
• 8+ years of engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration required.
• Master's degree in engineering may substitute for BS.

Responsibilities

• Specify and procure Emerson DCS equipment; develop control logic and graphics; lead factory acceptance tests.
• Support development of major project scope and EPC bid package.
• Coordinate with Transmission for interconnection design; ensure contract docs align with scope.
• Assist with cost estimates, scheduling, risk analysis, bid evaluation and contract development.
• Provide engineering oversight to ensure compliance with project requirements and design criteria.
• Participate in design reviews, drawings reviews, construction support, RFIs, commissioning support and warranty support.
• Oversee construction and programming of site controls and cyber security assets.
• Maintain knowledge of Cyber Security and NERC CIP regulations.
• Comply with ISA, IEEE, NFPA, NERC and other standards.
• Provide on-site engineering support for construction and commissioning.
• Offer engineering guidance for increasing complexity and scope of problems.
