Zachry Engineering Corporation in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer I to join our growing team. This early‑career role offers hands‑on exposure to complex, high‑impact engineering design across power, energy, and industrial markets.

You will work under senior engineers to design, specify instrumentation, and develop I&C documents, including instrument lists, wiring schematics, and control system specs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Process/Controls Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to manage time effectively while supporting multiple projects.

Responsabilités

• As an I&C Engineer I, you will support the design and delivery of safe, reliable, and efficient control systems while developing technical and professional skills under the guidance of senior engineers.
• You will:
• Apply fundamental electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering principles to support project deliverables.
• Assist with the design and specification of instrumentation used to safely operate industrial and process systems
• Develop and maintain key I&C documents, including:
• Instrument and I/O Lists
• Wiring and interconnection schematics
• Control system and instrumentation specifications
• Prepare control narratives defining system operation, logic, and monitoring requirements
• Collaborate within multidiscipline engineering teams to advance project designs from concept through execution
• Assist with reviewing, analyzing, and integrating project design requirements
• Learn how to select and adapt engineering approaches, tools, and techniques to meet project objectives
• Support coordination efforts with project team members to achieve successful, timely design outcomes
