Job summary

BlackRock Resources, LLC is seeking an Automation Commissioning Field Technician to support both shop-based assembly/testing and field-based commissioning of electrical control systems. The role involves hands-on technical work, adherence to safety and quality standards, and collaboration with engineering and field teams.

Responsibilities include building and testing panels, reviewing drawings for errors, assisting with safe movement of large projects, and startup support for commissioning

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certificate preferred.
• 2-5 years of experience with industrial instrumentation and controls.
• Understanding of electrical control panels and electrical design.
• General PLC knowledge.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Drug/alcohol and background screening will be conducted.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and stage jobs per BOM and direction from shop leadership.
• Review engineering drawings and identify errors or omissions before assembly.
• Report documentation or design issues to the shop lead.
• Assist team with safe handling and movement of large projects.
• Build and maintain electrical control panels in UL508A compliance.
• Support testing, quality checks, and preparation of completed jobs for shipment.
• Develop knowledge in commissioning and startup of VFDs, field instrumentation, PLC platforms, and networking equipment.
• Diagnose equipment and system issues independently or with remote assistance.
• Support site commissioning and startup activities, including diagnostics and wiring startup.
• Establish remote connections with Programming Engineers for advanced troubleshooting.

Description

Automation Commissioning Field Technician will support both shop-based assembly/testing and field-based commissioning/startup of electrical control systems and equipment. This role involves hands-on technical work, adherence to strict safety and quality standards, and collaboration with engineering and field teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble and stage jobs per Bills of Material (BOM) and direction from shop leadership
• Review engineering drawings and identify any errors or omissions before beginning assembly
• Report documentation or design issues immediately to the shop lead
• Assist team members with the safe handling and movement of large projects
• Build and maintain electrical control panels in compliance with UL508A standards
• Support testing, quality checks, and preparation of completed jobs for shipment
• Develop and maintain knowledge in commissioning and startup of VFDs, field instrumentation, basic PLC platforms, and basic networking equipment
• Diagnose equipment and system issues independently or with remote assistance from a Process Engineer
• Support site commissioning and startup activities, including diagnostics and startup of panel wiring, instrument wiring, and network diagnostics
• Establish remote connections with Programming Engineers to assist with advanced troubleshooting
