Job summary

BD in Columbus, NE is seeking a manufacturing operator to safely run equipment and produce high-quality products per documented procedures.

You will perform inspections, basic troubleshooting, changeovers, line clearance, and cleaning while meeting production goals. SAP/MES data entry and quality checks are required, with cross-training to support continuous operations. Day-to-day work is onsite in Columbus, NE.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED preferred or two years manufacturing experience in lieu.
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred, including MES familiarity.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment safely and produce quality products per documentation.
  • Perform visual inspections and basic equipment troubleshooting.
  • Handle changeovers, line clearance and cleaning tasks.
  • Achieve production rate and quality goals on assigned equipment.
  • Maintain quality and GMP standards and complete SAP data entries.
  • Cross-train within the department to support the business.
  • Work as part of a team to maximize effectiveness and reduce downtime.
  • Process SAP and MES transactions for the department.
  • Support root cause analysis through the BDA process.

Job Description
Position Summary:

Responsible for operating equipment in department safely and producing quality products per documentation. Perform quality checks, changeovers, SAP data entries, and basic troubleshooting. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Work as one of a team for maximum effectiveness and optimal task methods, which includes product inspection, operating equipment, raw material and finished goods movements and clean room area and equipment cleaning / sanitizing

  • Perform visual inspections

  • Perform basic troubleshooting of equipment

  • Perform changeovers, line clearance and cleaning

  • Achieve production rate and quality goals on assigned equipment

  • Facilitate continuous operation of the equipment through breaks

  • Perform rework

  • Cross train where needed within the department to support the business

  • Maintain all quality and GMP standards

  • Perform needed SAP data entries

  • May require the use of 10x microscope, calipers, and/or other miscellaneous gauges

  • Participate on blitz teams as assigned

  • Achieving established production goals

  • Ensuring the quality of all product produced

  • Performing quality checks as designated

  • Ability to function as part of a team

  • Processing SAP and MES transactions for department

  • Assisting in the BDA process to identify root causes

  • Maintain compliance with all required document training

  • Operate lines in a safe and efficient manner

  • Drive department results by reducing downtime and completing tasks in an efficient manner

  • Maximize efficient time usage in the department

  • Other duties as required to support the needs of the business

Education:
  • High School diploma/GED preferred

  • In lieu of High School diploma/GED, two years manufacturing experience is required

Experience:
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred

  • Previous experience with MES preferred

  • Previous experience with precision measuring instruments preferred
