Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in Albuquerque is seeking an Engineering Specialist/Senior Engineering Specialist to join the EMFDD team. You will provide deep technical solutions for flight mechanics, trajectory design, and optimization across space systems, missiles, and reentry vehicles.

Role requires extensive experience, ability to collaborate with partners, and readiness to travel domestically. Security clearance TS/SCI and SAP access are required/desired, with a competitive compensation package

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or related technical discipline.
• Typically eight or more years of experience of relevant technical work
• Experience in space mission analysis and design, advanced astrodynamics, algorithm design, software development, or mathematical modeling
• Proficiency with C, C++, Python, Fortran, MATLAB
• Ability to support multiple programs and act as technical point-of-contact
• Demonstrated technical team leadership and mentorship skills
• Willing to travel domestically (approx. 10%)
• Requires ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance (US citizenship) and TS/SCI

Responsibilities

• Trajectory design and optimization for hypersonic/high-speed systems, missiles, interceptors, and reentry vehicles
• Missile system and missile defense engagement simulation and performance analysis
• Multi-domain mission design across orbital and atmospheric regimes
• Constrained optimal control for vehicles with aerodynamics/propulsion
• Contested space mission evaluation and vulnerability analysis
• CONOPS development and constraint integration for space/near-space systems
• Development of capabilities using optimal control, flight mechanics, and algorithm development
• Algorithm/software R&D to maintain modern internal tool base
