Job summary

GE Aerospace in the United States is seeking a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer to design and analyze mechanical components and systems for hypersonic test rigs. You will develop mechanical systems from concept to manufacturable parts using 3D CAD (Siemens NX) and perform structural, thermal, and fluid analyses, including FEA, to validate designs and support program objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• 5+ years design and analysis experience.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and applying them to technical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Execute the design, analysis and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices and program/product requirements.
• Cross functional knowledge of high-speed fluid dynamic, mechanical systems and thermal response and application to rapid development of prototype hypersonic propulsion systems.
• Develop mechanical systems from proof-of-concept to final manufacturable component using 3D CAD
• Perform analyses ranging from classical methods to Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations to predict structural, thermal, and/or fluidic behavior.
• Prepare drawings to manufacture prototypes or components of an experimental setup
• Document and communicate assumptions, inputs and proposed solutions to multidisciplinary teams for review
• Support validation of new designs and technologies through bench-top or larger-scale testing
• Prepare presentations and slides to communicate ideas and progress on projects
