Job description

Construction Manager (Data Center Construction) – El Paso, TX

About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to support the delivery of large-scale hyperscale data center construction projects in El Paso, Texas. This role is responsible for driving project execution from preconstruction through commissioning and turnover, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with operational readiness requirements.

The ideal candidate is not simply a field construction leader, but an owner-minded project manager who can manage contractors, maintain schedule accountability, control project costs, mitigate risks, and lead complex construction programs through successful completion. This individual will work across contractors, designers, consultants, commissioning teams, and key stakeholders to deliver mission-critical infrastructure projects in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the successful delivery of data center construction projects from planning through commissioning and turnover.
  • Lead contractor performance and hold vendors accountable for safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Manage project schedules and proactively identify risks, recovery plans, and mitigation strategies.
  • Drive project execution across multiple stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, engineers, commissioning teams, and operations partners.
  • Support contract administration, change order management, cost control, budget forecasting, and commercial negotiations.
  • Monitor project financial performance and provide accurate forecasting of capital expenditures.
  • Review project status, identify execution gaps, and implement corrective actions to maintain delivery commitments.
  • Collaborate with project controls and scheduling teams to establish and maintain project schedules.
  • Lead commissioning readiness and turnover planning to ensure seamless handoff to operations teams.
  • Conduct site walks, progress reviews, and contractor meetings to validate project performance and readiness milestones.
  • Escalate critical risks and issues while driving resolution plans across stakeholders.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of construction management, project management, capital project delivery, or related experience.
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex construction projects, including scope, schedule, budget, contractor management, and project outcomes.
  • Strong experience managing contractors and driving accountability across project teams.
  • Experience with project budgeting, forecasting, cost management, contracts, and change orders.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, risk management, and project controls.
  • Experience leading projects through commissioning, turnover, and operational readiness.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and drive project execution with minimal oversight.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience supporting data center, mission-critical, industrial, semiconductor, energy, utility, or other large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) construction experience.
  • Experience managing projects within active operational environments.
  • Working knowledge of Primavera P6 and CPM scheduling methodologies.
  • Familiarity with commissioning processes and mission-critical systems.
Ideal Candidate Profile

The strongest candidates will have a proven project management mindset, demonstrated ownership of project outcomes, and experience managing contractors, schedules, budgets, contracts, and turnover activities. Candidates whose experience is primarily focused on superintendent duties, QA/QC, commissioning-only functions, or technical support roles without full project ownership may be less aligned with the needs of this position.

Key Success Factors
  • Project ownership
  • Contractor accountability
  • Schedule management
  • Cost and commercial management
