Job summary

Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia, seeks a Hyperbaric Technician to provide hyperbaric medicine treatments per protocol. You will maintain patient records, reinforce HBO education, and operate the hyperbaric chamber under supervision.

Requirements include an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Respiratory Therapy, plus CPR/BLS, Virginia certification, and HBO-related training within 6 months. Prior RRT/LPN/RN/EMT/CHT experience is required.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Nursing or Respiratory Therapy preferred (or Bachelors).
  • Experience as RRT, LPN, RN, military corpsman, EMT/Paramedic, or CHT required.
  • CPR/BLS certification required; Virginia professional certification required; CHt/CHS within 1.5 years.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patient for HBO treatment using current safety and clinical protocols.
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient records/charts pertaining to treatment.
  • Reinforce education as it relates to HBO therapy.
  • Perform hyperbaric chamber operations as required.
  • Perform duties and procedures as directed by supervisor/medical director.
  • Participate in quality improvement program.
  • Maintain competencies, continuing education and certifications as appropriate.

## Hyperbaric TechnicianApplylocations: Riverside Regional Medical Center - Newport News, Virginiatime type: Full timeposted on: Posted Todayjob requisition id: 2026-035791Newport News, Virginia**Hiring Range**$23.90 - $31.10/HourlyActual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs. **Overview** The Hyperbaric Technician is responsible for providing hyperbaric medicine treatments to the patients seen by this service in accordance with accepted protocols, clinical standards, and prescribed by a qualified physician. Responsibilities include patient care, quality control of equipment, invasive and noninvasive monitoring, wound dressings, accurate and timely record keeping, and the safe performance of hyperbaric treatments. The Hyperbaric Technician is responsible for care of patients varying in age from infants to geriatric patients. The Hyperbaric Technician must be willing to perform other duties as required.This position requires good verbal communication and administrative skills. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining necessary departmental/hospital documentation, as well as patient charting utilizing basic computer skills. There will be extensive requirements for interacting with patients, family members and clinical personnel in a professional manner.The Hyperbaric Technician should be able to exercise initiative and sound independent judgment when caring for patients within the department.
