Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Hyperbaric Tech to administer hyperbaric oxygen therapy and operate hyperbaric chamber systems under the direction of the Hyperbaric Physician. The role focuses on safe delivery of therapy, patient monitoring, and coordination with the care team to ensure optimal outcomes.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma and at least 1 year of relevant experience, plus licensure or certification in a related field and commitment to safety and quality care.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in Respiratory Therapist, Corpsman (Military) Medical Services, Specialist Nurse Practitioner, EMT-Basic, Paramedic, RN, LPN/LVN, CMA/RMA, CHT, Physical Therapist or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Administer hyperbaric oxygen therapy as prescribed by Hyperbaric Physician.
• Safely operate and monitor hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems.
• Ensure safe delivery of therapy and patient safety during treatments.
• Coordinate with Hyperbaric Physician and care team for patient care.
• Maintain accurate patient records and equipment checks.

The Hyperbaric Tech administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Physician. This role is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s), related support systems, and safe delivery of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the hyperbaric patient.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

• 1 year of experience in one of the following fields: Respiratory Therapist, Corpsman (Military)Medical Services, Specialist Nurse Practitioner, EMT-Basic, Paramedic, Registered Nurse, LPN, LVN Certified, Registered Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA), Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT), Physical Therapist, Physical Therapy Assistant

Licensure/Certification(s):

• Wound Care Center chamber operators must be actively certified or licensed in one of the following:
• Respiratory Therapist
• Corpsman Medical Services Specialist (Military)
• NP (Nurse Practitioner)
• EMT-Basic (Emergency Medical Technician)
• Paramedic
• RN (Registered Nurse)
• LPN (Licensed practical Nurse)
• LVN Certified (Licensed Vocational Nurse)
• Registered Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA)
• Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT)
• Physical Therapist
• Physical Therapy Assistant
• Additionally, each chamber operator attends, or provides verification of attendance to, an Introductory Hyperbaric Training Course as approved by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT).

Preferred Qualifications:

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

• Strong computer skills in Microsoft products and ability to learn computer software quickly.
• Strong working knowledge with insurance companies in obtaining referrals/authorizations/eligibility and benefits.

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
