Job summary

Rome Health in New York seeks a Hyperbaric and Safety Technician (LPN) to support the wound care center. You will operate and monitor hyperbaric chambers, educate patients, document treatments, and maintain safety standards.

In this role, you collaborate with providers and nurses, lead the hyperbaric safety program, ensure NFPA 99 compliance, and participate in safety drills. LPN license required; HBO safety and hyperbaric medicine training provided as needed.

Qualifications

  • Current New York State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license is required.
  • Completion of an approved HBO Safety Course, either before or after hire.
  • Completion of an approved introductory Hyperbaric Medicine course from a recognized organization.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor hyperbaric chambers and related oxygen systems during HBO treatments.
  • Prepare, educate, and orient patients for hyperbaric therapy and transfers as needed.
  • Monitor patients during treatment and adjust for safety and effectiveness.
  • Document HBO treatments, wound care visits, and patient responses.
  • Maintain hyperbaric equipment, supplies and treatment areas per safety standards.
  • Inspect equipment to ensure suitability for hyperbaric environment.
  • Lead and maintain the department's hyperbaric and safety program, including drills.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards including NFPA 99.
  • Review safety events and provide staff education and in-service training.
  • Assist with insurance verification and authorizations for HBO and advanced wound care.
  • Assist with wound care intake, discharge, documentation, and case management within LPN scope.
  • Collaborate with providers, nurses, and wound care team to support patient care.

Hyperbaric and Safety Technician

Rome Health is seeking a Hyperbaric and Safety Technician (LPN) to join our Wound Care Center. This position plays a key role in providing safe, effective hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy while supporting wound care operations and maintaining a safe clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor hyperbaric chambers and related oxygen systems during HBO treatments.
  • Prepare, educate, and orient patients for hyperbaric therapy, including safe lifting and transfers as needed.
  • Monitor patients throughout treatment and make appropriate adjustments to ensure safety and treatment effectiveness.
  • Accurately document HBO treatments, wound care visits, and patient responses.
  • Maintain hyperbaric equipment, supplies, and treatment areas in accordance with safety standards.
  • Inspect equipment and supplies to ensure they are appropriate for use in the hyperbaric environment.
  • Coordinate equipment repairs, upgrades, and modifications with department leadership and facility personnel.
  • Lead and maintain the department's hyperbaric and safety program, including safety drills and emergency preparedness.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable hyperbaric safety standards, including NFPA 99.
  • Review safety events, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide staff education and in-service training.
  • Assist with insurance verification and authorizations for HBO and other advanced wound care treatments.
  • Assist with wound care intake, discharge, documentation, and case management within LPN scope of practice and under RN direction.
  • Collaborate with providers, nurses, and other members of the wound care team to support quality patient care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or delegated.
Required Qualifications
  • Current New York State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license - required.
  • .Completion of an approved HBO Safety Course, either before or after hire.
    • Pre-hire course must have been completed within the past five years.
    • Post-hire training will be provided if needed.
  • Completion of an approved introductory Hyperbaric Medicine course through a recognized organization such as the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society, National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology, Department of Defense, or American College of Hyperbaric Medicine.
    • Post-hire training will be provided if needed.

Preferred: Previous experience in wound care, hyperbaric medicine, or a related clinical setting.
