Placements24 seeks an experienced Hygiene Manager to lead our client's hygiene and sanitation programs across Welkom-based operations with remote oversight. The role requires deep food-safety knowledge, regulatory compliance, and robust program implementation to safeguard product integrity.

You will mentor a team of technicians and supervisors, drive continuous improvement, and coordinate with regulators and auditors to ensure excellence in a complex production environment.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Hygiene Manager to lead and optimize hygiene and sanitation programs across their operations based in Welkom, with a remote oversight capacity. This senior role demands a comprehensive understanding of food safety standards, regulatory compliance, and operational hygiene. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust hygiene systems that ensure product integrity and public safety. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive hygiene and sanitation programs aligned with HACCP and GMP principles.
• Oversee and audit all sanitation activities, ensuring compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
• Manage a team of hygiene technicians and supervisors, providing leadership, training, and performance management.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions to mitigate hygiene-related risks.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors during inspections and audits.
• Monitor and control the use of cleaning chemicals and equipment, ensuring cost-effectiveness and safety.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Environmental Health, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a hygiene management role, preferably within the food industry.
• In-depth knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000).
• Proven ability to develop and implement effective sanitation strategies.
• Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
• Experience in managing teams and budgets, with a focus on continuous improvement.
