Job Description:


The Hygiene Department-Level Design/Permitting specialist will provide specialized German healthcare hygiene, design-review, and permitting support for designated ROBMC clinical and support departments. The position operates in coordination with the PSO and the architectural design team to ensure that revised department-level designs satisfy both U.S. healthcare practices and German hygiene requirements.


Responsibilities include:



  • Work in parallel with the PSO and the architectural firm during redevelopment of revised department-level plans.

  • Attend design meetings with medical end users and the Architect.

  • Provide hygiene expertise and design input during development of department-level plans.

  • Review architectural proposals and recommend modifications to ensure compliance with German hygiene law.

  • Prepare amended hygiene permit applications.

  • Coordinate with the Kaiserslautern Gesundheitsamt to support hygiene permitting.

  • Support redesign and permitting of the OR Department.

  • Support redesign and permitting of the Sterile Processing Department.

  • Support redesign and permitting of the Labor & Delivery Department.

  • Support redesign and permitting of the Highly Infectious Patient Disease Suite.

  • Ensure redesigned departments appropriately align with U.S. practices while satisfying German hygiene requirements.

  • Revise and resubmit hygiene-related permitting documents following redesign.

  • Support redesign of the Logistics Department.

  • Address required modifications to the Logistics Department because the existing solution was not appropriately sized or located to support operational logistics requirements.

  • Revise and resubmit hygiene-related permitting documents for the Logistics Department to the Gesundheitsamt.


Requirements



  • Recognized and accredited German healthcare hygiene professional (Hygieniker) qualification.

  • Knowledge of German healthcare hygiene and infection-prevention requirements.

  • Knowledge of the German Infection Protection Act (IfSG) and MedHygVO.

  • Knowledge of German hygiene requirements applicable to healthcare facility design and construction.

  • Experience evaluating healthcare facility designs for hygiene compliance.

  • Experience developing, revising, and submitting hygiene-related permit applications.
  • Ability to coordinate with German permitting and public-health authorities.

  • Ability to participate effectively in architectural and end-user design meetings.

  • Ability to evaluate proposed design solutions and recommend modifications.

  • Understanding of U.S. healthcare practices and their integration with German hygiene requirements.

  • Ability to prepare technical permitting documentation.

  • Strong communication, coordination, and technical documentation skills.

  • Ability to work with DHA-FE, the PSO, architects, medical users, and Host Nation authorities.

  • Ability to travel as required in support of project and permitting activities.
