Bluebonnet Dental Care in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a Dental Hygiene Assistant to join our team. This role offers on-the-job training to build extensive hands-on experience and a clear career path, working alongside our hygiene providers to deliver top-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of Dental Assisting experience preferred; we may train a new graduate if right for our team.
• X-ray certification is required.
• EFDA certificate is preferred.
• Team Player.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• HIPAA training and PHI protection responsibilities are required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and welcome them from the start of their dental journey, sustaining patient comfort and providing education during treatment.
• Conduct a thorough review of the patient’s health history to support quality care.
• Provide superior assistance to supported hygienists during a wide range of procedures in line with state dental practice act.
• Assist with setting up rooms for all hygiene visits, including stocking and restocking instruments and supplies.
• Utilize Dentrix for patient scheduling and record keeping.
• Prepare treatment rooms following safety protocols in accordance with OSHA & CDC guidance.
• Collaborate with providers and team to follow office systems and maximize workflow.

Minimum Qualifications-

• 1+ year of Dental Assisting experience is preferred; we may be willing to train a new graduate if they are the right person for our team
• An x-ray certification is requried
• EFDA certificate is preferred

• Ability to work in a fast-paced customer-focused environment.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• The position will have access to minimum PHI necessary for performing job-related functions; regular HIPAA training, aligning with the specific role and responsibilities, will be required; and the individual will need to protect PHI and maintain data safeguards.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 45 pounds at times.
• Availability to attend virtual training sessions (or in-person)periodically throughout the year.

This is a standard requirement for dental office roles and must be completed prior to starting employment.
