Heartland Dental LLC in Baton Rouge is seeking a Dental Hygiene Assistant to join our team. This entry-level role offers extensive on-the-job training with a world-class organization that supports development and career growth.

You will work closely with hygiene providers to deliver excellent patient care, greet and educate patients, and uphold safety standards while using Dentrix for scheduling and records. This position emphasizes teamwork and patient-first service.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of Dental Assisting experience preferred; we may train a new graduate if they are the right fit.
• X-ray certification is required.
• EFDA certificate is preferred.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome patients from the start of their dental journey and educate patients throughout treatment.
• Review patient health history to ensure quality care.
• Provide superior assistance to supported hygienists during procedures.
• Set up rooms for all hygiene visits and stock instruments and supplies.
• Utilize Dentrix for scheduling and record keeping.
• Prepare treatment room with OSHA & CDC safety protocols.

Dental Hygiene Assistant

Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8am-4pm

More about the role

• Greet and welcome patients from the start of their dental journey, as well as sustain patient comfort and provide appropriate education throughout treatment.
• Conduct a thorough review of the patient’s health history to provide quality care.

• Provide superior assistance to supported hygienists during a wide variety of procedures in accordance with the state dental practice act.
• Assist with setting up rooms for all hygiene visits including stocking and restocking instruments and supplies
• Utilize Dentrix for patient scheduling and record keeping.
• Prepare treatment room with strict adherence to safety protocols and following OSHA & CDC recommendations
• Partner with the providers and team to follow office systems and maximize office workflow.

Minimum Qualifications

• 1+ year of Dental Assisting experience is preferred; we may be willing to train a new graduate if they are the right person for our team
• An x-ray certification is requried
• EFDA certificate is preferred

• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• The position will have access to minimum PHI necessary for performing job-related functions; regular HIPAA training, aligning with the specific role and responsibilities, will be required; and the individual will need to protect PHI and maintain data safeguards.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 45 pounds at times.
• Availability to attend virtual training sessions (or in-person)periodically throughout the year.

This is a standard requirement for dental office roles and must be completed prior to starting employment.
