Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Hydropower Electrical Engineering Section Manager to lead our NorCal hydropower electrical practice and drive modernization projects. You will shape strategy, recruit and retain talent, and collaborate across CA, the Southwest, and the nation.

You will oversee project leadership, design reviews, and site activities while coordinating with diverse engineering teams. HDR offers ownership culture and a path to influence infrastructure and energy delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience.
• Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments.
• Good leadership and organizational skills.
• Active participant in employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

• Hire, grow, mentor, and develop staff across experience levels and oversee operations of the electrical section.
• Champion quality control, technical excellence, and exceptional delivery.
• Facilitate career development and growth among team members.
• Serve as Project Manager and/or Technical Lead for hydropower electrical projects.
• Oversee design plans, equipment specifications, bid reviews, and site investigations.
• Support field activities during installation, testing, commissioning, and startup.
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, civil, and controls teams.
• Partner with Power sector and National Hydropower Practice leaders on initiatives.
• Build relationships with hydropower owners/operators and support proposals and strategic pursuits.
• Support local and national marketing and HDR business activities.
