Job summary

YSS in Des Moines, Iowa, is seeking a dedicated Hydroponic Farming Assistant for a part-time role. You will help run daily operations of our hydroponic farm and support sustainable agriculture initiatives.

You will assist in setup and maintenance of hydroponic systems, monitor plant health, record growth data, and help with planting, harvesting, and packaging. Training is provided and attention to safety and hygiene is essential.

Qualifications

Basic understanding of hydroponic farming principles (training will be provided).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Physical ability to perform farming tasks, including lifting and bending.
Good communication skills.
Good basic hygiene.

Responsibilities

Assist in the setup and maintenance of hydroponic systems.
Monitor plant health and growth, including checking nutrient levels and pH balance.
Support quality control efforts.
Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment and growing areas.
Help with planting, harvesting, and packaging of produce.
Record data on plant growth and system performance.
Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
Follow uniform and hygiene expectations.
Support the team with other farming-related tasks as needed.
