Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan’s Sierrita operations near Tucson are seeking a frontline operator to perform leaching process duties and assist with leach-field construction. You may help with pipe fusions and must understand plant nomenclature including sumps, pumps, and leaching areas.

You will also support with evaporative spray heads, drip systems, and clay treatment tasks as needed. The role requires a HS diploma or GED, and at least three months of experience in mining, manufacturing, or related

Qualifications

• Three (3) months experience in Mining/Manufacturing/Industrial Operations/Commercial Construction/Commercial Landscaping/Commercial Agriculture.
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required and pass a written assessment where required.
• Safety training and ability to apply knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties related to the leaching process and leach field construction.
• May assist with and perform pipe fusions using fusing machine.
• Knowledge of plant nomenclature including sumps, pumps, and leaching areas.
• Knowledge of evaporative spray heads and drip systems and proper placement on leach fields.
• Assist with clay treatment which may include a filter press.
• Assist with loading, delivering, and unloading pipe and materials.
• Operate mobile equipment such as skid-steer loaders, forklifts, boom trucks, and light duty vehicles.
• Perform area housekeeping and other duties as required.

What You Will Do

• Performs duties related to the leaching process and leach field construction.
• May assist with and perform pipe fusions using fusing machine
• Responsible for having knowledge of plant nomenclature to include sumps, pumps, and leaching areas
• Responsible for having knowledge of various evaporative spray heads and drip systems and may assist with and perform the proper placement of these on leach fields
• May assist with and perform clay treatment which may include using a filter press
• May assist with and perform loading, delivering, and unloading pipe and materials
• May operate mobile equipment such as skid-steer loaders, forklifts, boom trucks, and light duty vehicles
• May assist with maintenance activities
• Perform area housekeeping
• Perform other duties as required

What You Bring To Freeport

• Three (3) months experience in one of the following areas:
• Mining/Manufacturing
• Industrial Operations
• Commercial Construction
• Commercial Landscaping
• Commercial Agriculture
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently$20.00 - $26.50/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
