Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is hiring a Hydromet SX Operator Trainee in Bagdad, AZ. The role supports the leaching process, operates equipment, and performs related duties in a 24/7 mining environment. Training provided with safety as a top priority.

The position requires 3 months of relevant experience or related coursework, ability to pass assessments, and willingness to work non-standard shifts. Compensation reflects a paid hourly rate with benefits as described.

Qualifications

• Three months experience in mining/manufacturing/industrial operations or related fields.
• Experience with safety practices and basic process understanding is required.
• Applicant must be able to pass training and assessments.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties related to leaching process and leach field construction.
• Assist with pipe fusion and use of fusing equipment.
• Understand plant nomenclature including sumps, pumps, and leaching areas.
• Assist with evaporative spray heads, drip systems, and proper placement on leach fields.
• Support clay treatment and use of filter presses as needed.
• Load, deliver, and unload pipe and materials.
• Operate mobile equipment such as skid-steer loaders and forklifts.
• Assist with maintenance activities and area housekeeping.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Will Do

• Performs duties related to the leaching process and leach field construction.
• May assist with and perform pipe fusions using fusing machine
• Responsible for having knowledge of plant nomenclature to include sumps, pumps, and leaching areas
• Responsible for having knowledge of various evaporative spray heads and drip systems and may assist with and perform the proper placement of these on leach fields
• May assist with and perform clay treatment which may include using a filter press
• May assist with and perform loading, delivering, and unloading pipe and materials
• May operate mobile equipment such as skid-steer loaders, forklifts, boom trucks, and light duty vehicles
• May assist with maintenance activities
• Perform area housekeeping
• Perform other duties as required

What You Bring To Freeport

• Three (3) months experience in one of the following areas:
• Mining/Manufacturing
• Industrial Operations
• Commercial Construction
• Commercial Landscaping
• Commercial Agriculture
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $20.00 - $26.50/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
