Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is seeking candidates to support leaching operations, field construction, and related maintenance in a 24/7 mining environment. You will contribute to leach field setup, material handling and equipment operation while adhering to safety protocols.

The role requires a short training period, basic technical aptitude, and the ability to work non-standard schedules in a heavy industrial setting. Competitive pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Three months experience in Mining/Manufacturing or related fields.
• Ability to pass written assessments on required safety and competency measures.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties related to the leaching process and leach field construction.
• Assist with pipe fusions using a fusing machine.
• Maintain knowledge of plant nomenclature including sumps, pumps, and leaching areas.
• Assist with placement of evaporative spray heads and drip systems on leach fields.
• Assist with clay treatment and using a filter press where needed.
• Load, deliver and unload pipe and materials; operate mobile equipment.
• Maintain area housekeeping and support general maintenance activities.

What You Will Do

• Performs duties related to the leaching process and leach field construction.
• May assist with and perform pipe fusions using fusing machine
• Responsible for having knowledge of plant nomenclature to include sumps, pumps, and leaching areas
• Responsible for having knowledge of various evaporative spray heads and drip systems and may assist with and perform the proper placement of these on leach fields
• May assist with and perform clay treatment which may include using a filter press
• May assist with and perform loading, delivering, and unloading pipe and materials
• May operate mobile equipment such as skid-steer loaders, forklifts, boom trucks, and light duty vehicles
• May assist with maintenance activities
• Perform area housekeeping
• Perform other duties as required

What You Bring To Freeport

• Three (3) months experience in one of the following areas:
  • Mining/Manufacturing
  • Industrial Operations
  • Commercial Construction
  • Commercial Landscaping
  • Commercial Agriculture
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• Experience with solution handling equipment, including sumps, pumps, and leaching areas
• Ability to operate mobile equipment such as loaders, forklifts, water trucks, dump trucks, light duty vehicles & UTV’s
• Experience in a process, manufacturing, or mining environment
• Basic Computer Skills
• Experience working in a discontinued mine site
• Knowledge of Tohono O'dham Nation laws, policies and government

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $21.00 - $27.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
